Self Registration Partner

Self Registration and ALA Library Workflow

Libraries who want to Borrow and Lend to a CSU library can use the Self Registration feature at certain libraries to make a Primo account to request items from that library. Making an account also adds the partner library in Alma for the CSU library to request materials using the ALA form. The previous page covered how the CSU library can configure Alma to allow Self Registration, while this page will cover the steps the partner library takes to Register and Place a request.

Registration

If you are in a library that used to connect to a CSU through ILLiad or WorldShare, and you are unable to connect through ISO or an Alma Hybrid Pod, you can Self Register by clicking Sign In on the library's OneSearch page. A pop up will appear for patrons to sign in and libraries who allow Self Registration will have a link for libraries to register and become ALA Partners.

On the Self Registration Form, libraries should select Organization and fill out the entire form. You will need to scroll down and agree to abide by the libraries policies before you click Register. After completing the form you will be returned to the sign in pop up where you can select Guest Login to sign in. You can now request materials from the CSU library.

Requesting Books

Libraries who Self Register for an Institution account can request physical items owned by the library that are approved for Resource Sharing. You cannot request articles, book chapter scans, or use general Resource Sharing as if you were a CSU student.

To request a book, search the title you want to request in OneSearch until you find the item you need for your library patron. Click inside the request and scroll down until you see a blue box that says Get It. This is a Rapido Physical Request Tile. Select Get It and fill out the rest of the form before clicking Send. You have just requested the book.

The request will appear as a normal Rapido request to the CSU staff. They will either fill the request or reject it if it is unable to filled (not-on shelf, missing, etc.) They will mail it to your library using the address you input during registration.

Receiving Lending Requests

When you use the Self Registration feature you also create an email partner in Rapido for our staff to use. If the CSU Resource Sharing staff are unable to find an item through Rapido, they may search for it in your library catalog and place a request. When a request is placed you will receive an email with the metadata for the book we are requesting on behalf of our patron. Please fill this request using your system as a reciprocal partner.
